The Municipal Corporation (MC) will celebrate two-day Basant Festival in the city on February 9-10. A musical night and kite flying competition will be conducted in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Centre under National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana.

Navjot Singh Sidhu,Minister of Local Government, Tourism, Cultural Affairs, and Museums, would be chief guest of the music night at Guru Nanak Stadium on February 9. Punjabi singer Ammy Virk would perform in the musical night.

On February 10, kite flying competition would begin in Ranjit Avenue at 10 am.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sonali Giri advised kite lover to register themselves before taking part in the kite flying competition. The Municipal Corporation has announced a cash prize of Rs 11,000, Rs 7,100 and Rs 5,100 for the first, second and third position holders of the kite flying competition. Designer and LED kites would be key attraction of the contest. Education Minster OP Soni will inaugurate the competition.

Jagmohan Kanojia, veteran kite runner, welcomed the MC for conducting the kite flying competition.
