Amritsar, October 26

Spreading love through service and message of Guru Nanak Dev, FICCI FLO’s community kitchen initiative organised langar ahead of Diwali to celebrate the festive season. The community kitchen was held at Sadda Pind, where its members came together to prepare meals and serve langar to various organisations engaged in social service.

Based on the principles of ‘Naam japo, kirt karo, vand chhako’, the basic teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, the event saw Commissioner of Police Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill and international celebrity chef Vikas Khanna sharing the platform with FICCI FLO members. The teams were engaged in preparing and serving langar to Pingalwara’s old age home and students of Mission Deep Educational Trust, Ibadat School, Nishkam Sewa Trust and Government Special School, Ranjit Avenue.

Arushi Verma, Chairperson of FICCI FLO, said: “Food can be a vehicle for social change. It brings people together in a way few other activities do. We certainly saw this for ourselves with our community kitchen initiative in honour of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. I am so thankful and grateful to each and every one of you, who were a part of our initiative, for coming forward with full hearts and full hands. After all, a community kitchen initiative cannot succeed without the community and we are so grateful that each and every one of you is part of our FLO community langar family.” She said the meals were prepared by members of FICCI FLO, including some prominent women entrepreneurs from city, and were served in a complete eco-friendly manner.

“It was a truly fulfilling experience as the kids who came for our community langar were welcomed with garlands and walked the red carpet. It was a joyous moment for all watching smiles on their faces and having them enjoy the food we prepared,” said Arushi.
