AMRITSAR: A city lad, Parvinder Singh (30), has made it to the top five participants in the ongoing The Great Indian Laughter Challenge show, telecast on Star Plus.

A city lad, Parvinder Singh (30), has made it to the top five participants in the ongoing The Great Indian Laughter Challenge show, telecast on Star Plus.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has been part of the show as super mentor which is being judged by Sajid Khan and Shreyas Talpade. The finale will be held on December 30.

Parvinder, who hails from the holy city, is an engineer-turned-comedian. Making people laugh is his childhood passion. He has done his engineering from Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) and had been working with a private company before the commencement of the show.

He says, “The show has brought my comedy to a bigger platform. I was doing small shows but this is a new high. I had a wonderful time with Akshay Kumar and other participants.”

Talking about his son’s achievement, GS Bhatia, a retired bank official, said ,“It is a proud moment for all of us. Presently, he is in Mumbai preparing for his finale slated for December 30. It a matter of pride that he is representing the city.”

According to Bhatia, Parvinder, since his childhood, has been bringing smile on the face of others. In family gatherings, too, he volunteers to entertain friends and relatives, he says.

Parvinder hopes to touch new heights in the field of comedy. He was selected on the basis of his brilliant performance in auditions. The show has been a launching pad for many comedians, such as Kapil Sharma, Sunil Pal, Raju Srivastva and others.
