Authorities at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital caught an employee who had issued fake fitness certificates to patients in lieu of money. The accused has been identified as Jasbir Singh, a lift operator.
Jasbir was assigned a duty to manage enquiry counter where he used to target gullible patients.
The hospital officials stated that Jasbir used to issue a fake fitness certificate for Rs 500.
The matter came to light when a patient approached Medical Superintendent Dr Shiv Charan for getting the certificate verified.
As the authorities got suspicious over the validity of the certificate, the entire matter was probed.
A patient reported that she had paid Rs 1,500 to Jasbir for getting medical tests conducted from outside the hospital.
Dr Charan said strict action would be taken against the accused.
He said the hospital was committed to provide best and economical medical services to poor patients.
