Amritsar, September 16
Two days after the clash between two notorious gangsters, Ankur Likhari and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, inside the jail premises, the city police have booked Likhari and his accomplices for thrashing Bhagwanpuria.
Besides Likhari, the police booked Dharmjit Singh of Hukum Chand Colony, Amanpreet Singh of Dhanoe Kalan and Aditya Arora, alias Makhan, of Lahori Gate here.
A case under Sections 323, 341 and 506, IPC, and Sections 42, 52 and 52-A Prisoners Act has been registered against them, following a complaint lodged by Superintendent, Jail, Ashish Kapoor. The complaint stated that the accused thrashed Bhagwanpuria inside the jail premises. He was allegedly injured in the clash and was under treatment at the jail hospital.
Likhari even updated this in his status on a famous social networking website. This also led to a status war on the social networking site. Bhagwanpuria also updated his status while threatening that Likhari would not be left alive whenever he came out of the jail on parole.
The repeated instances of violence in the jail have left the authorities worried. In order to maintain law and order inside the jail premises, the Amritsar central jail authorities recently shifted around 12 notorious criminals and gangsters to other jails. Jaggu was shifted from the Patiala jail.
Likhari was an associate of another gangster, Sanjiv Babba, who was shot dead by Jaggu and his accomplices a couple of years ago.
