Litterateurs, artistes honoured in city

The Alami Punjabi Virast Foundation and Sekh Farid Sahit Vichar Manch organised an award ceremony to felicitate renowned personalities from the field of art and literature.

Famous Punjabi folk singer Gurmeet Bawa was awarded with the Surinder Kaur Memorial Award. Poet Avtar Singh Tari got the Ram Naryan Singh Dardi Memorial Award, and Dr Darya was honoured with the Santhok Singh Dhir Memorial Award. The Giyan Singh Kawal Memorial Award went to Ajit Singh Rattan.

The programme was presided over by retired police officer Gurdev Singh Sahota. Writer Ninder Ghugianvi, Bhupinder Sandhu, Sudhir Kumar Sahi and Bhagwant Singh were the main speakers on the occasion.

Ninder Ghugianvi said Punjabis have to focus on the literary and art work of our elders. He appreciated the Alami Punjabi Virast Foundation and Sekh Farid Sahit Vichar Manch for awarding the literary personalities and artistes.

Sahota said that such programmes should be organsied to recognise the efforts and services of artistes.
