Bollywood singer and 90’s pop icon Lucky Ali has made a comeback to the world of music with a single 'Alvida', dedicated to people of Kashmir. The song is a collaboration between the 60-year-old singer and composer Varun Ahuja, who is known to produce independent songs and has done over 2000 concerts. The song has been penned by Faisal Simon.
“The idea behind the song was to create something unique and heart felt. With Lucky, we have created a song of hope, love, peace and brotherhood. For Ali, it was an immediate connection with the song that prompted him to do it,” said Varun Ahuja. A dedication to the people of Kashmir, the song has familiar Lucky Ali vibe, though with time the 90’s sensation seem to have brought a different sound.
“The song has different sound to it that resonates with listeners just like the 90’s music, when the songs created formed a bond with the listeners. That’s the reason why people still have not been able to forget the 90’s era,” he said.
Talking about Lucky Ali, Ahuja said that collaboration has managed to bring up something fresh. “He is someone who will not do everything that is offered to him. Instead, he gives in a lot to his work.”
With the digitalisation and commercialisation of music now, the industry has changed its game when it comes to independent music. Ahuja agrees, but with reluctance. “The 90’s music was exclusive, how people waited in front TV to listen to their favourite song. Now, everything is easily accessible and everyone owns the song the moment they download it. Sure, the independent platforms have given a push to young musicians.”
