Man held with 1kg heroin

AMRITSAR: The special task force(STF) of the city police on Monday nabbed Karanbir Singh of Ghumanpura village with 1kg of heroin.

The special task force(STF) of the city police on Monday nabbed Karanbir Singh of Ghumanpura village with 1kg of heroin.

Rashpal Singh Ghuman, AIG, STF, said his two accomplices identified as Gurjit Singh of Hoshiarnagar and Sahib Singh of Ranike managed to flee and raids were on to nab them.

He said the police had impounded the bike of the accused. Karanbir was produced in a court, which sent him to police remand for further interrogation, he added. The investigations were on to know the source of contraband while his previous record, if any, would also be looked into, Ghuman added.

A case under Sections 21, 25, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him.
