The local police has arrested a person and recovered 2 kg of opium from him here today. At a press conference here today, police officials stated that the accused, Mahinder Singh, had tied the opium packets on his waist when he was intercepted by them on the basis of secret information.

SHO, Narcotics Cell, Varinder Kumar said the accused was earlier, too, arrested in a case of opium smuggling and had spent some time in jail before he was released on bail around eight months ago. He said the accused was travelling on a scooter at the time of his arrest. A case under the NDPS Act had been registered against him at the Sultanwind police station. — TNS
