As per the new reservation policy of state government, now, 50 per cent wards are reserved for the woman candidates.

As many as 18 per cent wards would be reserved for the candidates from scheduled castes and two per cent for backward castes.

The department had conducted a survey before the delimitation and those wards are reserved for the SC candidates, where the SC population is more than other castes.

With the release of lists the local politicians are on toes to evaluate their chances and risks. They have started approaching the party leadership for their candidatures.

The MC officials said the wards have been comprised on the basis of population. The average population in a ward is 12,000. The residents and activists of political parties can submit their objection till end of October. The election of Municipal Corporation is scheduled in December.
