She said the dialysis machine at the hospital was lying unused for want of experts. Specialists of medicine, skin, ortho, anaesthesia and gynaecology are not enough to handle the workload, she mentioned. tns

RASA criticises PSEB exams

Amritsar: The Recognised and Affiliated Schools Association (RASA) has criticised the state government’s move to have board examinations for Class V and VII for the schools affiliated with the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB). They said it would create pressure on children. Sushil Aggarwal, general secretary, RASA, Amritsar, said, “The board is trying to solve its problem of financial crunch through examination. Other boards don’t have such a policy.” The PSEB will hold Class V and VIII examination in 2020. TNS

491 take part in training camp

Amritsar: Around 491 NCC cadets are taking part in the combined annual training camp that commenced on Sunday. The camp will conclude on October 12. NCC Group Commander Brig RK Mour also visited the camp. NCC cadets from Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Tarn Taran are taking part in it. TNS

AVM for new flight in Nov

Amritsar: The Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM) has written to IndiGo, which has announced its Amritsar-Kolkata flight from December 1, to make it functional in November to facilitate pilgrims for celebrations of the 550th Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Dev, said AVM patron Kulwant Singh Ankhi. TNS
