Minor fire at paper mill

A fire broke out at Khanna Paper Mill on the Amritsar-Attari bypass road in the wee hours on Monday. However, timely action by the mill staff averted a major mishap and prevented the spreading of flames.

The incident led to loss of a machine in the power-generation house as a turbine got burst accidentally, leading to setting fire to electricity articles placed in the department.

Managing director Suneet Kochar termed the incident as minor and said that the fire-extinguishing system of the mill, which had huge water hose pipes, became operational and helped in controlling the fire and spreading further. “It was a minor fire incident and was controlled within no time,” he said.
