The trial of the newly built washing apron on the Platform No. 2 of the railway station was held yesterday. The washing apron is the cemented area near the tracks on platforms that acts as a support to the train.

Resumption of operations at the platform has been eagerly awaited by passengers, vendors and railway staff as it would resume the movement of several trains stalled for scarcity of parking space at the station.

After the conduct of the trial, the operation wing of the railways decided to start plying trains.

Passengers, vendors and visitors at the station are perturbed after more trains were cancelled following the start of renovation of Platform No. 2.

To facilitate uninterrupted civil work, the railways had stopped plying of many trains at the station. Now, plying of Tata Moori, both up and down, which connects Raurkela to Jammu Tawi and Jammu-Bathinda Express, both up and down, has been resumed.

Already, many trains were cancelled and diverted after fog intensified in the northern part of the country. Two of them, Amritsar-Dehradun train via Haridwar and Amritsar-Haridwar train, are yet to be resumed.

The retail sale has nosedived at platforms after the number of visitors dwindled following cancellation and diversion of trains.
