With the emergence of the ‘Back to Nature’ trend in beauty and wellness industry, naturalism and herbalism are defining new rules for keeping fit and fabulous. Going back to the basics of natural healing and Ayurveda principles, a lot of alternative methods of holistic helaing and wellness are being adopted by health-seekers. Notably Naturatherapy, Ozone therapy, Four Sutras, Patra Potli and many more such natural methods of healing are offering complete solutions to all bodily problems that come with the lifestyle today.
“Most people are now relying on the ancient wisdom that Ayurveda therapies have to offer. The concept of pure methods, pure herbs for not just treatment but rejuvenation of physical and mental health are being adopted for leading a better lifestyle,” says Dr Rajiv Sood, professor and medical superintendent at the Laxmi Narayan Ayurvedic Hospital and College. The charitable facility leads the holistic-healing techniques with popular therapies like classical and oil panchakarma, Chakradhara et all with a zero-chemical additive policy for its oral medications. “All oils and herbs are prepared by natural means and are purification methods by which the body heals itself,” he says.
From complex medical problems to minor lifestyle issues like body odour, Ayurveda has the answer for everything. A proof of the successful practice is that they host a lot of tourists, who are curious to try these ancient health therapies.
Naturopathy is another popular alternative therapy offering holistic and non-toxic way to health. The traditional method of healing through natural elements has always found takers, based on five basic principles of earth, water, fire, air and sky. Shyam Lal, naturopathy expert, too, agrees that natural therapies are a sure shot way to achieve healthy living. “Though allopathy and other sciences doubt naturopathic methods of healing, results have proved otherwise. It’s a leading procedure being practised to cure many chronic ailments the world over and not just in India,” he said.
Natural methods include nature’s elements like sunshine, water, heat, cold, nutrition et al as a medicine. It focuses on natural self-healing rather than follow a specific procedure. “We believe that every element in nature affects our vital energy fields responsible for proper functioning of our body,” he said.
The economics involved in the business, which is growing every year, show that alternative methods of healing have grown to be a $50 billion industry the world over. Rahul Kale, co-founder of Iraya, a product line inspired by principles of Ayurveda, says that in the end it's about going back to the basics. “It’s like finding a cure to every day problems in our grandmother’s kitchen. “Beauty markets in Europe and the US are lapping up products offering a culmination of ancient Indian knowledge and advanced international expertise.
"Using potent herbs of Ayurveda recipes and providing these to the world has helped spread a nature- friendly trend. The core belief here is that the path to beauty and wellness is through harmony and balance of the mind and body with the soul.”
