The Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satikar Committee, Punjab, has highlighted violation of Sikh ‘rahat maryada’ (code of conduct ) at a local house in Chaunk Bhan Singh where residents of the house were neither performing Parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib nor were doing Sukhasan (closing tradition) at night. The committee handed over two persons present at the house to the police and found intoxicant powder, cigarettes, empty wine bottles and objectionable material from the spot.
Bhai Balbir Singh Muchhal, member of the Satikar Committee, said, the committee received information that the residents were not performing the tradition of ‘maryada’. The Granth Sahib was found under dust and the same was the position with the other religious literature.
A police team led by SHO Gurcharan Singh was deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
Bhai Balbir Singh said the Beer of Guru Granth Sahib was shifted to local Sri Darbar Sahib and other articles like Chandoa Sahib, Palki Sahib too had been handed over to the head granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib. The committee recovered some heroin like powder from the possession of persons present on the occasion. SHO Gurcharn Singh said the accused were booked under the NDPS Act.
