The government schools in the district are observing water conservation fortnight. Started on August 1, it will conclude on August 15. The department has designated different days for eassy writing, painting competition, tree planation, quiz competitions and group discussions on water conservation. The steps are being taken to create awareness among students on importance of water conservation. The schools are expected to send a report to higher authorities.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
