The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has plans to hold an art workshop dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. The five-day workshop on the life of Guru Nanak Dev would be conducted at Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Sultanpur Lodhi, on August 15.
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief secretary Roop Singh said artistes from various parts of the country would exhibit their skills. The workshop will be inaugurated by Takht Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh on August 15 and the valedictory ceremony would be performed by SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal on August 19.
“The artistes will prepare pictorial version of the ‘shabad bani’ of Guru Nanak Dev. The workshop will be held under the supervision of Sikh History Research Board member Harwinder Singh Khalsa, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee member Gurpreet Kaur and Manjit Singh. The Golden Temple’s additional manager Iqbal Singh would coordinate the occasion”, he said. The workshop is expected to draw residents in large numbers.
