Amritsar, March 26
The local non-governmental organisation (NGO) Dilbir Foundation has come up with pencils made of recycled newspapers to teach students the importance of sustainable environment along with their multiple initiatives.
Gunbir Singh, chairman, Dilbir foundation, said, “Recycled newspaper pencils are a constant reminder that we must plant trees, but do not axe them. We must use safety glass bottles for drinking and storing water in place of dioxin laden plastic. ”
“These pencils are not harmful. These are made of newspaper and lead has been replaced with granite nib. Hence, these are environment-friendly as trees are not being cut to make these pencils,” he added.
The foundation is also setting up their organic natural stalls in schools and colleges to introduce pure and healthy, nutritious food to parents and students.
