At a press conference here on Tuesday, Oberoi said the diagnostic centres would be set up at the Golden Temple, Gurdwara Saheeda Sahib, Sri Guru Harkrishan International School, Ranjit Avenue, and Police Lines, Amritsar (Rural).
He said the Trust had also purchased land for setting up the old age home and residential school for special children at the Amritsar-Attari road.
Oberoi said playgrounds with all sports facilities in 100 villages of Amritsar and Gurdaspur will also be set up. “The objective is to divert border areas youth’s attention to sports from drugs,” he said.
The Trust is providing free medicines to 850 cancer patients. It has set up 176 subsidised dialysis units out of which 90 are in Punjab and 12 in Chandigarh, he said. Oberoi, who is also known for helping families whose members pass away in middle east countries, said the Trust had brought 121 bodies till date. “Earlier, the respective countries used to cremate the deceased after waiting for six months as there was no mechanism to transport their bodies,” said Oberoi.
