Even as the police have booked several persons including a woman in connection with the murder of a youth, identified as Hira Singh, they have failed to make any arrest in the case so far.
Hira Singh was brutally murdered by several persons on the intervening night of August 15-16 when he along with his mother had gone to buy her medicine. Old enmity was stated to be the reason behind the murder.
Those booked were identified as Hira Singh (victim’s namesake), his brother, Ravi, their mother, Harjit Kaur, all residents of Kot Baba Deep Singh, and several unknown accomplices. A case under Sections 302, 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered in this connection while no arrest has been made so far.
Rani, mother of the deceased, stated to the police that she along with her son, Hira Singh, had gone to take medicine from the Kitian area. While returning, the accused, who were standing in the way, attacked her son with a sharp-edged weapon, following which he started bleeding profusely. He was rushed to the local Civil Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Amrik Singh, SHO, Division C police station, said raids were continuing to arrest them. The accused were missing from their homes, he said.
