The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) to pay Rs 3,000 as compensation and Rs 2,000 as litigation expenses to a local PAN card applicant, who was delivered the card after one year of filing an application.
Sonia Rajput, a resident of Guru Arjan Dev Nagar, had applied for a PAN card on August 23, 2017.
Sonia said the NSDL had assured her that she would get the PAN card within 10 days of filing the application. She alleged that at the time of filing of the complaint she did not get the card.
The NSDL in its reply stated that the application was processed and forwarded to the Income Tax Department on September 4, 2017. It stated that the PAN card was printed and dispatched at the address mentioned in the application form on October 3, 2017, through speed post.
The company said it was returned with the remarks undelivered by postal department on October 13, 2017. The reply further stated that the status of the PAN was available on the website of NSDL e-Gov.
The forum stated that the NSDL could not produce any evidence to prove that they had made any telephonic call to the complainant that PAN card was issued by the IT Department to the complainant.
Meanwhile the complainant received her PAN card during the proceedings of the complaint on September 5 this year.
