Premature graying of hair, imbalance in lipid profile, weak muscular strength and bronchitis are becoming common in children as young as five or six years of age. “The common cause of such health issues is malnutrition and it is becoming a concern among parents as well as health professionals,” shared Ridhi Khanna, nutritionist and diet consultant, who held a nutrition symposium for children on Thursday.
Ridhi along with other medical professionals, held a day long informative programme on nutrition. “We also had open house for underprivileged kids and under a special initiative, we have conducted nutrition camps in several government schools,” shared Ridhi.
Dr Ravi Mahajan, Dr Naresh Grover, Dr Yadvender Singh and Dr Ruhi Nanda were among the prominent present. Stressing on the importance of right food habits and eating healthy, the doctors addressed several common occurring problems among children due to malnutrition. Sunil Dutta, MLA, Amritsar North, presided over the event as chief guest along with councillor Sandhya Sikka. —TNS
