Amritsar, December 23
A Pakistani intruder was shot dead in Ajnala late yesterday evening. Two of his accomplices managed to flee back to the neighbouring country amid firing by BSF personnel. The incident occurred near Wadhai Cheema border outpost falling in Ajnala.
The Pakistani national, said to be about 68 years old, could not be identified. His body was sent to the Civil Hospital, Ajnala, for postmortem.
According to information, BSF jawans of 70 Battalion noticed the movement of three persons from the Pakistani side who had sneaked into the Indian territory at around 11 pm. When challanged, they tried to flee back and one of them was shot dead. The BSF found Rs 377 in Pakistani currency, a lighter, two matchboxes, a rope and a few cuttings of newspapers. Nothing objectionable was found from the spot.
BSF officials and intelligence agencies are investigating the case. — TNS
