Reviving the beat patrolling system and making police stations and chowkis corruption free are among the top priorities of Parampal Singh, who joined as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) here today.

Earlier, he was deputed as Additional Deputy Commissioner of police (ADCP), city-I, for the last two years. He was entrusted the job after DCP Harjit Singh Sidhu went on a leave for completing his course in Hyderabad. Listing out his priorities, Parampal said beat patrolling system was very effective in checking the crime and tracing the culprits, besides nailing the drug peddlers. It has also helped in enhancing information network. Somehow, it could not be continued due to various reasons, he added.

I have discussed with Police Commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh about transferring constables and head constables, who have been serving at a particular police station for years.”

On the prevalent menace of snatching incidents, he said drug addiction was the main cause behind snatchings. He added that he would also hold police-public meeting in various parts of the city after every 15-days.
