Amritsar, June 14
With the treasury clearing the bills amounting to Rs 7.08 crore meant for pension beneficiaries, the Department of Social Security has asked the beneficiaries to submit details of their bank accounts to the office.
Department officials stated that the account details were required to disburse pensions as the government had decided to disburse pensions through banks only.
District Social Security Officer Narinder Singh said many beneficiaries from rural areas had not submitted their bank details in the past. He said the pension disbursal through banks would ensure transparency and timely disbursal.
Deputy Commissioner Kamaldeep Singh Sangha said the pension bills for November and December 2016 had been cleared and the amount would be disbursed soon into the accounts of beneficiaries, whose bank details were available with the department.
He said the beneficiaries who had not submitted bank details so far should do the same at the offices of Child Development Project Officers in their respective areas.
