Amritsar, July 3

Air travellers and social organisations have criticised Air India for suspending booking of its early morning Delhi-Amritsar-Delhi flight from July 12 to September 30. Last week, the airline had also suspended booking of its Chandigarh–Bangkok flight to make the aircrafts available for Haj.

This decision can create a lot of trouble for the early morning travellers. International passengers reaching Delhi at night on Air India or its partner airlines including Lufthansa, Air Canada board this flight to reach Amritsar. On the return flight from Amritsar to Delhi, passengers board connecting flights to Europe and other destinations by departing from Amritsar early in the morning.

Sameep Singh Gumtala, overseas secretary, Amritsar Vikas Manch and convenor, Fly Amritsar Initiative said they have raised the issue in a letter and on social media by tweeting to Minister of State Vijay Sampla, BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Shwait Malik and Lok Sabha MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla.

“We appeal to these leaders to intervene in this matter and convey our demands to Air India so that this flight is not suspended by the airline. The airline can use other flight instead of this high passenger occupancy flight,” he said.
