Amritsar, April 22
Verka, the flagship brand of the state owned Milfed, and other organisations celebrated Earth Day on Sunday.
Earth Day is held every year on April 22 across the world to show support for environmental protection. A plantation drive was carried out to mark the occasion at various Verka dairies.
Milkfed chief operating officer HS Grewal said, “Verka firmly advocates the need of planting trees for the future generation. It is the need of the hour to eradicate environmental issues and make Earth a better place to live in.”
“Protecting and preserving our natural resources is important for everyone. Earth Day is an opportunity for us to adopt conservation habits that will bring about a cleaner, safer and healthier environment for present and future generations.” he added. In a separate programme at Gobindgarh Fort, veteran actress Deepa Sahi planted saplings and exhorted people to come forward to protect and maintain the fragile environment for future generations.
