The police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused in the case of double murder that happened during firing at a wedding function a few days ago. A cross case has been registered in this regard.
SP (D) Harpal Singh said teams had been dispatched to nab the suspects, who were identified during the course of investigation.
The probe indicated that deceased Manpreet Singh alias Manga had an old enmity with Harvinder Singh, who was also killed in the shootout.
Manga had come to attend the wedding when Harvinder, along with his accomplices, came to the spot and attacked Manga.
The police have arrested bride’s brother Gurpreet Singh in the case.
Two groups of youths had clashed and opened fire at a marriage resort located on the San Sahib road near the Gateway of India on Monday.
Harwinder Singh of Chheharta and Manpreet Singh of Khaparkheri village were shot dead in the incident while bride’s brother Gurpreet Singh, Kanwaljit Kaur (kin) and Ranbir Singh were injured in the incident.
Along with Harvinder Singh, the police have booked Gurpinder Singh of Khaparkheri, Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan, Amarjit Singh of Chabal and six unidentified persons in the case.
A cross case was registered against Manga, Monu Cheema, Sukhdev Singh, Inderjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Pamma.
SSP (Rural) Parampal Singh said Gagandeep Singh and Amarjit Singh each had around 12 criminal cases registered against them while Harvinder Singh was also booked in three cases.
He said several more names cropped up during investigation.
