The All India Pingalwara Society announced a series of social welfare activities and programmes to mark the 23rd death anniversary of its founder Bhagat Puran Singh. Addressing the mediapersons, director, Pingalwara, Dr Inderjit Kaur, expressed concerns over the increasing cancer cases in the region. She said the Pingalwara’s Manawala branch would host a free camp on August 2 in which doctors and cancer specialists from World Cancer Care Association, UK, would help cancer patients from the adjoining areas. Dr Tejpal Singh (retd), Government Medical Hospital and College, would inaugurate the medical camp, she added.
She said Pingalwara’s office near bus stand will also organise Akhand Path in memory of Bhagat Puran Singh. A blood donation camp would be held on August 4, in association with Rana Palwinder Singh along with several dignitaries, she added.
She said, “The society will also host an exhibition of décor items and goods hand made by children and inmates of Pingalwara. An exhibition of prosthetic body parts will also be held for the physically handicapped inmates at Pingalwara. A special dedication to Bhagat Puran Singh by Pakistani artiste Khalid Hussain Warsi will also be organized, wherein Bhagat ji’s life will be highlighted through poetic couplets.”
She said, “Celebrating the success of Pingalwara’s special-abled girl power lifters, who participated in Special Olympics World Summer in US recently, the two girls will be honoured for their achievements.”
