Pulmonary rehabilitation centre opened
Amritsar, December 20
Cabinet Minister Anil Joshi presided over a function for the inauguration of a pulmonary rehabilitation centre at MedicAid Hospital here today. He also distributed awards among hospital staff.
While speaking on the occasion, he applauded the hospital and its staff for continuing to provide the best of the services in the domain of healthcare and for starting up with the department of pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with lung diseases.
Dr SS Arora, medical superintendent of the hospital, said their team had worked day and night to help patients in distress during the past two years. Dr PS Grover, chairman, MedicAid Healthcare, said MedicAid Hospital was conceptualised with the idea of providing excellence in health care at an affordable cost.
Navjot Kaur, a pulmonary therapist, gave a formal introduction about the department of pulmonary rehabilitation.
She said this department was the first such initiative in the region and would cater to diet, exercise and general rehabilitation of patients with severe lung diseases.
Dr Navjot said the pulmonary rehabilitation not only increase the exercise capacity of a patient with terminal lung disease, but also help the patient in carrying out his daily activities with utmost comfort even in the presence of severe lung disease. — TNS
