Punjab Governor Solanki visits Golden Temple

Punjab and Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki visited the holy city today to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple and the Durgiana Mandir. He also offered floral tributes at the Jallianwala Bagh on his visit to the city after taking oath as the Governor of Punjab.
Solanki was accompanied by his wife, both the sons, Rajesh Solanki and Abhay Solanki, and other members of the family. He was greeted by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president and other SGPC functionaries.
Solanki took a full round of the parkarma and was impressed by the ambience. After paying obeisance inside the sanctum sanctorum, he was honoured inside the Information Office of the Golden Temple as SGPC officials presented him a shawl, a model of the Golden Temple and a set of religious books.
Talking to the media, Solanki said it was a thanksgiving visit to the holy place and to obtain the blessings of the Almighty, so that he could discharge his responsibilities according to the Constitutional rules assigned by the Constitution of India for the Governor.
Sharing his experience of visiting the Golden Temple, he said by coming here, a man was transcended to a higher level, became more spiritual and less mundane and he emerged with a purified heart and soul. Replying to a query regarding his future plans for Punjab, the Governor said Punjab was one of the most important states of India as it produced a large share of foodgrains required to meet the needs of Indians and the farmer of Punjab had the grit, determination and the capacity to produce enough foodgrains for entire Asia. So, he would take stock of the conditions prevalent in the state and as the Governor and in his personal capacity would put in his utmost for the betterment of Punjab and Punjabis.
Earlier on his arrival at the Circuit House, a police contingent presented a Guard of Honour to the Governor. Later, the Governor along with his family visited the Wagah border.
