Punjabi youth’s Canada mania has once again become premise for a Punjabi film. Inspired from real life stories, upcoming romantic comedy “Me And Mr Canadian”, starring Sanjiv Jhanji, Surinder Shinda, Gurpreet Bhanggu, Amardeep Maana, Dilraj Kaur, Arushi Jain and others, the film’s story revolves around a man, who after making a life in Canada, returns to Punjab, 25 years later. The decades of change and a barrage of young girls pursuing him for marriage given his Canadian passport, the film’s protagonist played by Sanjiv Jhanji, finds himself in a dilemma that makes for more than a few laughs.
The film’s star cast and crew were in city to talk about their project. “It’s an entertaining film that has been made keeping in mind the Punjabi fetish for making a life in Canada. Given the number of migration happening to Canada, the film’s main characters too reflect on the trend and the consequences, all in a lighthearted manner,” said Sanjiv. With new faces, the makers hope to give audience a fresh take on the story that has been a source of numerous rom-coms on Punjabi film screen.
The movie has been directed by Nagender Chauhan, written and produced by Sanjeev Jhanji. The film will release in India on May 31 while in the overseas it will release on June 14.
