The state round of the Wild Wisdom Quiz (WWQ) was held at the Millennium School here on Friday. Schools from across the state, including Beas, Jallandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana and from Jammu, participated in the contest. WWQ aims to provide students an opportunity to delve deeper into the wildlife of the country, build their interest towards the rich natural legacy and inspire them to work towards its conservation.

Keeping in view United Nation’s declaration of 2015 as the “International year of the soil”, this year’s quiz highlighted the importance and conservation of soil. The quiz tested student’s aptitude and knowledge about soil, minerals, evolution, climate change and sustainability, apart from issues of Indian wildlife and global biodiversity. The Junior school round was won by DAV International School, while Police DAV, Jallandhar Cantt, stood second, followed by DAV Public School Amritsar. The middle school round was won by Heritage School, Jammu, followed by DAV Public School, Amritsar, and third place was bagged by Springdale School, Amritsar. Heritage School, Jammu, will participate in the national round to be held on October 7.
