Spelling luxury and fashion for the spring summer season, the three-day Rakhi Bazaar was organised at a local hotel. Sixty designers from all over India are participating in the exhibition from cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Jaipur and Jalandhar.
The exhibition offers a wide range of the latest in western wear, ethnic wear, bags, clutches, artificial and real jewels, sandals and stilettos, scarves and accessories, home décor and furniture. Offering bright hues, flowing garments and cotton fabrics, the weekend saw residents shopping their hearts out at the exhibition. Be it casual attire, semi formal pieces or formal wear, chic apparel dominated the spread of exhibits at the venue. From anarkali kurtas to trendy summer dresses, from cotton suits to designer wear, the apparels on display left the women folk of the city spoilt for choice. Summery hues of white, cream, yellow, pink and lime green remained popular among shoppers.
Prominent among the exhibitors were ‘Numaish’ from Jammu, who displayed a lovely collection of Kashmiri suits, ‘Inspire’ from Kolkata showcased splendid designer rakhis which were an instant hit with women, ‘Trinckets’ and ‘More’ from Mumbai had an amazing collection of accessories, ‘Desi pop’ showcased digital bags and cushions. Interesting display of hand-painted trays and printed footwear from ‘Prints and Paints’ made it a stand-out stall.
To compliment the wardrobe, the exhibition had accessories spread out in gem-stone jewellery, sapphire, emerald and rubies in platinum, gold and silver. For the mystic lovers, face reading and tarot reading stall by a Delhi-based reader also had something interesting to offer.
While local, home-grown brands took the spotlight, some international labels like Mafadeny and Parv, too, were a hit. Binti Kumar, who organises the quarterly exhibition, began the series with the purpose of bringing new, innovative and pop-up brands on one platform. Over the years, ‘Wedding Mantra’ has propelled Amritsar-based and Punjab-based fashion labels into the growing market of retail and styling.
