Bhagwan Valmiki Temple, popularly known as Ram Tirath, is abuzz with devotees constructing miniature houses nowadays. The practice is being followed for centuries as devotees believe it would help them live the dream of owning a house in reality.
Though people visit Ram Tirath throughout the year, the footfall increases during the annual fair this month.
Manju, a devotee, said, “We have come to pay obeisance as well as make a miniature house. I am sure my wishes will come true. I have come here to construct my dream home.”
Devotees try to come up with their best art work as they can be seen making single as well as double-storeyed structures decorated with candles. The fair also happens to be one of the biggest events in the city.
Rajendra, a visitor, said, “This is a historic place. With recent beautification, it has become more appealing.”
Besides, people also take holy dip in the sarovar as according to the legend this practice prevents and cures any type of illness and deformities.
The place, said to be the hermitage of Bhagwan Valmiki, is visited by people of all religions and communities. It holds special relevance as it is considered to be place where sons of Lord Ram — Luv and Kush — were born and stayed in their initial years with their mother Goddess Sita.
The place was recently revamped by the SAD-BJP government in the state and an idol of Bhagwan Valmiki was placed.
