Cabinet Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike along with Principal Secretaries of various departments, including SK Sandhu, KJS Cheema, AK Tiwari and Hussan Lal, took stock of preparations being made for the state-level function scheduled for December to dedicate Bhagwan Valmiki Temple to the community.
Ranike said the temple was constructed at a cost of Rs 200 crore. He said, “One lakh pilgrims are expected to attend the state-level function. The idol of Bhagwan Valmiki to be installed at the temple would reach Ram Tirath on November 25, he added.
Apprising senior officials about the ongoing preparations, Deputy Commissioner Basant Garg said 17 committees comprising hundreds of officials had been constituted to look after various aspects of arrangements for the function.
