Remove sand-laden trolleys en route Golden Temple
Much has been going on in the media that the route to the Golden Temple from the Hall Gate is to be given a new face lift. Special funds have been allocated to give the entire route a heritage look. NOCs from the shopkeepers have been obtained. A few months ago, the road from Jallianwala Bagh to Ghee Mandi was widened. Now, the hammer is going to fall on the shopkeepers of Kesri Bagh. Notably, Hall Bazar is not the only route for those who visit the Golden Temple. A large number of tourists visit Amrisar by road. The tourists who travelled by bus have to go to the Golden Temple via Mahan Singh Gate or Sheranwala Gate. The condition of both these roads is pitiable. All the roads that lead to the shrine from the GT Road from Jalandhar side, are as important as that of the Hall Bazar, but no attention is being given by the authorities to these roads. Lack of sincerity and vision by the all concerned has failed to remove sand laden trolleys and provide an easy access to the Golden Temple from these roads.

Put police staions of B, Cand D divisions to proper use
On March 23, there were no mountains of garbage on the Circular Road. We took a round of the city to be able to say so. I think the tempo should be maintained to produce a lasting Swachh Amritsar in tune with the expectations of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In this connection, I think the super strong and multi storeyed structures housing police stations B-Division, C-Division and D-Division are not being put to proper use. The staff has to work in dark and cramped space. The high-walled open foyer (B- Div) is choked with hundreds of old two wheelers impounded by the Travel Authority. Scores of cars and three wheelers occupy the road in front of the police stations for decades thus hindering not only cleanliness drive but pose a security risk to police itself. The Prime Minister's call for Swachh Bharat does not exempt such encroachments. The entire wreckages, manglings, flat-tyres and other eye-sores should be shifted elsewhere to vacate road space which may then become available for potted ornamental trees or flowers. The DTO and the police must take up this issue without trying to pass the buck.
