Amritsar, January 8
To create awareness about the use of Swachhata mobile app, an interactive session was held at Kot Mangal Singh Chowk at Amritsar-Tarn Taran road by residents of the area. The residents had asked the Municipal Corporation (MC) to create awareness about the use of the app.
In the Swachh Survekshan 2018, Amritsar is among the 41 cities taking part in the competition. The cities will be ranked on the basis of cleanliness, disposal of garbage and use of the mobile application. For getting a good rank, there is a requirement that the app should be downloaded 23,500 times along with complaints addressed to the local body authorities.
The residents were informed about the steps to be followed while operating the mobile application. The MC authorities have asked the residents to dispose of waste in a proper manner, register complaints on the app and avoid burning the garbage.
Municipal Health Officer Dr Raju Chauhan said, “We appreciate the efforts of the residents of the area. We request them to download the application and register their complaints online as mere downloading it will not serve the purpose.”
The event was attended by Sandeep Kurl of the Save Amritsar campaign, members of the Amritsar Vikas Manch along with residents. The city will be provided with grants and facilities after declaration of results. A team of the Central Government will be visiting the city soon to review the work.
