Unidentified miscreants snatched Rs 2.80 lakh from an employee of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) at Jandiala Guru here on Friday. The victim has been identified as Sucha Singh, a resident of Gehri Mandi village.
In his complaint to the Jandiala Guru police station, the victim stated that he withdrew Rs 2.80 lakh from the State Bank of India’s Jandiala branch at 4.10 pm. While heading towards his residence, two motorcycle-borne accused came from the rear side and snatched his bag containing cash at the Gehri Mandi turn. The victim chased the accused, but they escaped.
Acting on the complaint of Sucha Singh, the police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Meanwhile, frequent incidents of snatching, robbery and theft have left the city residents in a state of panic. Residents say the incidents wherein victims suffer a meagre loss don’t report the same to the police. They say the anti-social elements should be arrested at the earliest.
