Sahir Ludhianvi remembered

Rich tributes were paid to noted poet Sahir Ludhianvi at Majha House here on Friday.
The event saw participants reciting, singing poems of the legendary poet. A discussion also took place between Dr Gurpartap Singh and Dr Gurupdesh Singh, a former educationist with expertise in Sahir Ludhianvi on his life, writings, relevance of Amrita Pritam in his life.
In 1945, he published his first book of poetry very appropriately called Talkhiyan (Bitterness).
Gurupdesh highlighted achievements, important life events of Sahir’s life. He said, “Sahir Ludhianvi has left a great impact on society, movies. He has penned down a number of songs which are still very popular.” A small interaction was held between panelists and gathering.
Gurpartap Singh said, “Even after years of his death. He continues to live in the memories of people, his words are immortal. He has written about 733 songs. This event was held to remember great soul. We had been organising events from time to time. This is an effort to remember legends.”
Gurupdesh Singh also narrated anecdotes from the life of Sahir. The evening saw a musical tribute as gathering sang to his songs.
