Sarovar cleaning after 20 years

AMRITSAR: The first phase of cleaning the Durgiana Tirath sarovar began on Monday. The machines installed in the holy pond would draw 30 lakh gallons of water. Last time, the pond was cleaned in 1999.

The first phase of cleaning the Durgiana Tirath sarovar began on Monday. The machines installed in the holy pond would draw 30 lakh gallons of water. Last time, the pond was cleaned in 1999. Since the inception of the temple in 1925, sarovar kar sewa has been conducted thrice. It is being undertaken after 20 years with the efforts of Shree Durgiana Committee members under the leadership of its president Ramesh Sharma. Ramesh appealed to volunteers to come forward for kar sewa. — TNS
