Seminar discusses free legal aid

The District Legal Services Authority held a seminar at Government School, Town Hall and DAV School, Hathi Gate, to create awareness about the free legal aid available for needy people here today.

Baldev Singh, Bal Krishan Bhagat and Simranpreet Kaur Hundal were the resource persons at this seminar. They said any person with an annual income of less than Rs 1.5 lakh could get free legal aid from the District Legal Services Authority. Baldev Singh said people could contact the toll free helpline- 1968 of the legal services authority for assistance.

The participants were also educated about the procedure to file a case with the permanent Lok Adalat. Simranpreet said the applicants interested in filing a case with the permanent Lok Adalat could submit an application on a plain paper and need not hire an advocate, as they could present their own case.
