Amritsar, July 16

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandak Committee (SGPC) president Kirpal Singh Bandugar presented a cheque for Rs 1 lakh to Anmol Sher Singh, who achieved second rank in the civil services examination.

The SGPC chief also honoured his father Sarabjit Singh and other family members.

Bandugar said the cash award for the city youth was announced after the UPSC had declared the final merit list.

He said the SGPC had earlier passed a resolution that all Sikh youth excelling at national and international level would be honoured by it.

It will encourage others to excel in their respective fields, he added. SGPC executive committee members Ram Singh, Balwinder Singh, Manjit Singh, Harjap Singh Sultanwind and others were also present on the occasion.
