Shooting: NCC cadet bags gold

Amritsar: Sukhvir Singh, a student of Khalsa College, won a gold medal in the rifle firing event of the All-India Nau Sainik NCC Camp. The camp was held at the Naval base of Karwar in Karnataka. A student of Bachelor of Arts, he also bagged a silver medal in the seamanship. He was declared the best cadet of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.

Adhyan shines in badminton 

Adhyan Kakkar of Spring Dale Senior  School here did the institution proud by notching top positions in the Open Punjab Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Championship (U-13) at Ropar. Giving details, Rajiv Kumar Sharma, principal of the school, said Adhyan Kakkar competed with 128 shuttlers from different schools across the state to bag a gold in the doubles event and a bronze in the singles event. 

Sports: Differently abled shine 

Nine differently abled students of the DAV Red Cross School for Special Children shone in state-level games. This tournament was held in Patiala recently. The tournament was organised by the Special Olympics, Punjab. As many as 350 players participated in this tournament. Karamjit Kaur, Diksha, Komalpreet Kaur and Robindeep Singh bagged four gold medals in 25 m and 50 m races. Kareena bagged a silver in table tennis and Diksha, Rohit and Abhishek won three silver medals in 25 m and 50 m race. Karamjeet, Komalpreet, Rohit and Robindeep, Abhishek and Damanpreet Singh won nine bronze medals in different events. TNS

Guru Nanak  Dev University organized a special lecture on the topic, “Habits for Effective Leadership”, at the auditorium of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan of the university. Lt Gen (retd) KJ Singh delivered this lecture and shared his views on how to become a leader. — TNS
