Punjab Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu inaugurated ‘Listening Ears’, a centre that would help in early intervention for hearing impaired kids. The minister spent time with the children and their parents, who attended the event.

Sidhu said in Punjab there are around 12000 hearing impaired kids and places like these can be a game changer for such special children.

“These children are very special. They do not need sympathy. They need full honour and equality and we all must ensure to stand by them in every situation,” he said.

The minister also announced Rs 5 lakhs for the children. “Such places are very pure and I assure that if anything is required from the government side there will be no hesitation,” he added.

Rohit Mishra, MD of the ‘Listening Ears’, said this center will adopt best of techniques to help the differently-abled children. He advised the parents to bring their children immediately if they observe any signs of hearing loss, so that an early intervention can be made.
