A meeting of SPIC MACAY Amritsar chapter, which promotes Indian classical music and culture among youth, was organised at Bhai Veer Singh Niwas in context with the revival of the organisation’s Amritsar chapter with community-based activities.

Representatives of 20 educational institutions attended the meeting that comprised Spring Dale School, Millennium School, Cambridge International School, DAV International School, DAV Public School, Ashok Vatika School, Stalwart School, Mount Litera Zee School, Delhi Public School, Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Satya Bharti School, Chogawan, students of Khalsa College, BBK DAV College for women, World Wide Fund for Nature, India.

A portfolio of upcoming activities for the session was also shortlisted. The Coordinator, Gurmeet Singh, appealed to the educational institutions to participate in all the activities enthusiastically and assured that with the establishment of this unit in Amritsar, it would enhance exposure to the activities of promotion of Indian culture and heritage. He also appealed to the admirers of Indian classical music to make such activities a success by being the volunteers of SPIC MACAY movement.

SPIC MACAY introduced artistes of national and international fame to students through selective annual activities, which highlight the folk and traditional music and dance forms of not only India but also other SAARC nations. Punit Watts, the media Coordinator of SPIC MACAY, Amritsar, chapter informed that a meeting would be held weekly so that information of past events could be shared and all the members of this unit would be made vital or zealous. He also invited institutions to attend the weekly meetings and appealed to them to make this bond strong by being a regular and strong part.
