With pear orchards coming under attack of spider mite of leaf, the Horticulture Department has issued an advisory to farmers to irrigate orchards as per the need. Officials of the department said the problem was seen in various orchards in the district and as such farmers need to keep a watch.

Deputy director, horticulture, Dr Baaj Singh, said, “Farmers are also advised to use recommended pesticides for spray. While using pesticide it is important that the exact quantity as recommended by the department should be used.” 

He warned that more quantity of pesticide could give rise to other problems in orchards. He also asked farmers that while spraying pesticide it should be ensured that the entire tree was evenly drenched.

In case farmers spotted such a problem in their fields, they should consult officials of the Horticulture Department in their area.
