Student vows to promote eco-friendly pencils

With a challenge to aware one lakh school students to adopt the recycled pencils, Aniruddh Arora, a student of class XII, has been attending awareness sessions in schools. The project initially started by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) called “Give Up to Give Back” which is to promote the use of pencils made from recycled newspaper instead of wooden and plastic pencils. Aniruddh Arora accepted the challenge to aware one lakh students in the city to save trees and environment. Recently, he attended an awareness session and interacted with students of Indian Public School, Amritsar. He also offered pencils to the students.

Talking to The Tribune Aniruddh Arora said, “I wanted to do something for the environment. Puneet, an environment activist associated with the WWF discussed this project and I found it was an interesting task. I took the challenge to make aware one lakh students to use recycled pencils in place of wooden and plastic pencils”.

Aniruddh said the cost of wooden pencils and recycled pencils were same. Students, teachers and their parents need awareness for the adoption of recycled pencils.
