Students celebrate their mentors

The Punjab unit of the Recognised and Affiliated Schools Association celebrated Teacher’s Day by honouring teachers from several schools for their exemplary services. Teachers were given awards and mementos mentioning their achievements in the subject. Later, a seminar on upgrading teaching standards in the country was also held on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Public School, Khankot, Amritsar celebrated Teacher’s Day with enthusiasm. A special radio campaign ‘Mera guru mera ideal’ was organised for students in which Karam Chand, Shaifali Sharma and Anita were selected as best teachers.

The birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, which is celebrated as Teacher’s Day, across the country, saw several schools host day-long events.

Madhav Vidya Niketan School celebrated Teacher’s Day with a skit, which was presented by students of Class VIII. Principal and the staff members paid tribute to Dr Radha Krishnan.

Students of DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, dedicated the special programme presented by them on the eve of Teacher’s Day to the great philosopher and educator. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, IGP, Special Task Force, was the chief guest of the day.

In her address, DAV Principal Neelam Kamra said “Kunwar Vijay Pratap is a true role model for the young generation as he is known for his integrity and honesty, the much needed value in the coming generation”.

She congratulated teachers on the occasion and motivated them to be a guiding force for their students to take them out of the darkness of ignorance.

Students put up an entertaining show for teachers, which included thanks giving poems, songs, bhangra, kathak, giddha. A tableau highlighting teachings and wisdom of great scholars and teachers like Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekanand, Mother Teresa, Rabindranath Tagore, Panchari, Jija Bai and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was also presented by students.

Sidana School and Amritsar Public School also celebrated the day during which teachers were honoured by students.
