Amritsar, January 13
The Department of Laws of Guru Nanak Dev University commemorated the 153rd Jayanti of the great monk, philosopher and social reformer, Swami Vivekananda, here today. The event began by the lightening of lamp and paying tributes to the world-renowned saint.
Sister Alka Gauri from Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, was the resource person on the occasion. Prof Viney Kapoor, head, Department of Law, gave the introductory address.
Sister Alka , scholar of Vedantic Philosophy, enlightened students with the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda by explaining various experiences of the great saint.
She further emphasized that, “According to Swami Vivekananda faith in ourselves, faith in God- is the secret of greatness.”
She said, “Swami Vivekananda observed the history of the world as the history of a few men, who had faith in themselves, and it is faith which calls out divinity within.” The vote of thanks was presented by a PhD scholar Ravinder Kaur. — TNS
